02 The name
Lapan means eight.
Lapan is Malay for eight, and the app icon is a map pin shaped like an 8. We call it Pin 8.
03 Why it exists
Built for the roads we actually drive.
Toll fares in ringgit. Turns named by the traffic light. Voice lines written the way Malaysians talk. LAPAN Nav is built here, for us, and it gets better with every driver who joins: their road reports, place fixes and problem reports go straight back into the app.
04 On the route
- 01 · Guidance
Turn by turn, the Malaysian way
Voice and on-screen directions with lane guidance. Turns name the traffic light: “at the second traffic light, turn left”. Voice for at least the next 10 km is fetched ahead, so it keeps talking through dead zones.
- 02 · RM
Every toll, in ringgit
Every car route shows its toll fare in RM, plaza by plaza, at car or motorcycle rates.
- 03 · Reports
Drivers warn drivers
Jams, police, accidents, floods, closures and speed cameras. One big tap, or hold to talk: “polis kat depan, lane kiri”.
- 04 · Safety
Built to keep you calm
The speed limit, when it's known, with a chime when you go over. Warnings for cameras drivers report, plus 78 fixed and red-light cameras from OpenStreetMap (as of 30 Oct 2026), including 20 of the 29 sites on JPJ's AWAS list. An SOS button that calls 999. A rest reminder after two hours.
- 05 · Modes
Car, motorcycle, bicycle, walking
Avoid tolls, highways or ferries, add stops, and plan a drive for later today or tomorrow, including when to leave to arrive on time.
- 06 · Share
Family can follow along
Share a live trip link on WhatsApp. Family follows in a browser without the app, and sharing stops when you arrive.
05 In the app
Every screen, in your language.

06 Hear it
A voice that sounds like one of us.
Real recordings from the app. Turn-by-turn lines written the way Malaysians talk, with the odd “lah” on a long straight road.

08 Honest about it
What it doesn't do yet.
- No iPhone app in the App Store yet. It's coming, with no date set. iPhone users use the web app today.
- No Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
- No offline map download. The current route keeps working through short signal gaps.
- Motorcycle routes don't use live traffic yet.
- In the web app, voice guidance stops while another app is in front. The Android app keeps guiding with the screen off.
- Not every AWAS camera is in yet: 9 of JPJ's listed sites can't be placed, and there are no average-speed zones.
09 Privacy
Never sells or rents your data.
No analytics, ad-network or tracking code from anyone else, and no advertising ID. Shared traffic is anonymous, under an ID that changes every trip; the start and end of a trip are never sent.
Not the same as “Lapan”.
LAPAN Nav (lapan-nav.com) is not related to Lapan (lapan-malaysia.com), a different app by a different developer. Please write “LAPAN Nav” and link to lapan-nav.com.
